Cats & Kittens Looking for a Good Home

After the experience with Mia and her kittens, we became a foster family for Furry Friends Rescue. We have fostered quite a few kittens and cats since then. Here are the animals we are currently fostering. There are many other cats, kittens, dogs, and puppies available for adoption from Furry Friends Rescue. They hold showcases every weekend in Fremont, CA and other locations in the Bay Area. See their showcase locations page for details.

Cali and Woody

Cali is about 3-4 years old, and Woody was born in March 2005. Cali is Woody's mom. Woody is full grown now, but still the biggest kitten in the house. Both are great cats with unique personalities. Don't be drawn in by the cute kittens further down on this page. Cali and Woody are two of my favorite faster cats and I'll hate to see them go some day.

Cali is a people cat. She seems to get the most enjoyment when receiving attention from people. She is talkative and always friendly. She is always timid at the showcase (not her comfort zone), but in a comfortable environment, she is one of the most laid back cats we have fostered.

Woody has long draping fur with large teddy bear paws. He's a very beautiful cat, larger than average, and always enjoyable to watch. He follows us around the house and always seems to be there when we turn around. He isn't always interested in attention from us (I think he doesn't want us to mess up his fur), but his personality and entertainment value is quite good.

New Kittens

Kitten season is here. We recently took in some new kittens, Fleur and the "Four M's", Max, Molly, Marble, and Melinda. All will be up for adoption soon through Furry Friends Rescue.

Fleur is the survivor of a litter of four. Her siblings didn't make it due to sickness - a common problem with young kittens. Fleur, however, is healthy, very attached to people, constantly playful yet amazingly patient (like when being held).

The Four Emm's are from a different litter. Marble has fluffy (woolly) long fur . His sister, Melinda, has the same woolly fur, but she's a short hair. Both are very soft. Max is the adventurous one of the group and Molly is the timid one. A couple weeks of contact with people, however, and all of them are very friendly and enjoy being with people. This is the benefit of adopting animals from a foster home where the animals get a lot of 1 on 1 attention as opposed to being in a cage for the first several months of their lives.

Cali's Litter - Summer 2005

In March 2005, we got Cali (pictured above), who gave birth to a litter of 6 kittens. Five of the six have been adopted. We still have Cali and her little boy, Woody, though Woody isn't little anymore.

Do you want the experience of having kittens (or a cat, dog or puppies) but aren't ready to take on a 20 year commitment? Consider becoming a foster home through Furry Friends Rescue, or some other animal rescue organization. Furry Friends rescues kittens, cats, dogs and puppies and they need more foster homes to take care of the animals between adoption showcases. It is fun, and the best part is you get to see many different animal personalities, without accidentally adopting the wrong animal. It is common for many foster homes to eventually adopt a favorite animal, so this is a great way to learn what kind of animal best suites you.
